Police in Torrance are investigating the death of a woman who was found inside a home early Tuesday.The incident was reported around 6 a.m. in the 23700 block of Western Avenue.The woman was found dead inside the home. A burglar broke into a Newport Beach home and stole from its safe this past weekend.Sometime between 6 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, a burglar shattered the back glass door of a home in the 3100 block of Broad Street in the Newport Heights neighborhood, according to a news release from the Newport Beach Police Department.The resident was gone at the time of the break-in, police said.While inside the home, the burglar "rummaged through the master bedroom, master bathroom and office," police said. After they found a safe, the burglar "pried it open" and stole some of what was inside — police indicated passports were taken but did not list out any other losses — before escaping, authorities added. The Newport Beach Police Department is looking for two men who allegedly tried to enter a home in the Mariners Community by using a ladder to get to a second-story window.The men, both believed to be about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds, were spotted by the residents of the home in the 1300 block of Estelle Lane at about 9:10 p.m. Friday night, police said in a news release. A noise from the courtyard roused the residents out of bed, and one of them spotted the two men using a ladder to try to get into the home's second story, police said.After a resident yelled at the men, they fled out of the side gate. Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s are introducing app features that will track a customer’s location to ensure that their meal will be ready once they get to the restaurant, Insider reported.Chick-fil-A announced in May that when customers place a curbside or carryout order under the new feature, the restaurant will be alerted when the customer is close so staff can start preparing the food. 54-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck and Left Dead by Hit-and-Run Driver near 27th AvenuePHOENIX, AZ (May 30, 2023) – Tuesday night, police responded to a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of Colleen Caryn Martin.On May 16th, at around 9:30 p.m., officers received a call about a pedestrian that was fatally struck near the intersection of 27th Avenue and Camelback Road.Furthermore, officers arrived at the scene and found 54-year-old Martin lying on the highway with extreme injuries.Consequently, Martin was instantly transported to the hospital where she later died due to the extent of her injuries.Unfortunately, the officers were not able to locate the vehicle involved in the area.
