INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Brittney Griner scored 29 points, Sophie Cunningham scored 11 of her 13 points in the fourth quarter, and the Phoenix Mercury defeated the Indiana Fever 85-82 on Sunday.Indiana built a 67-59 lead entering the fourth quarter before Cunningham hit two 3-pointers to spark a game-tying 8-0 run. NaLyssa Smith scored five straight points for Indiana and the Fever led 77-72 near the five-minute mark, but Griner, Cunningham and Sug Sutton all scored in close to put Phoenix ahead by one.The score was tied at 80 before Griner scored again and Cunningham hit a 3-pointer for an 85-80 lead with 50 seconds remaining. DENVER (AP) — Ryan McMahon hit a tying homer in heavy rain just before a 1-hour, 25-minute delay in the ninth inning and Nolan Jones hit a game-ending 472-foot drive just after the resumption that gave the Colorado Rockies a 5-4 win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday.Colorado’s Coco Montes homered in his major league debut to spoil a strong start by Blake Snell, who struck out a season-high 12 in seven innings. Three residents and two firefighters were taken to the hospital after a fast-moving fire raced through a multi-family home in Mattapan on Sunday, leaving 25 people displaced, officials said.Crews responding to a reported structure fire on Cummins Highway around 7 p.m. immediately struck a second alarm as a large plume of black smoke filled the neighborhood, according to a fire officials.Crews worked to contain the fire to the single building and it was under control in about an hour.Those hospitalized suffered minor injuries.The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced. A wild sight in Newton, where a black bear was spotted early Sunday morning near Cold Spring Park.Police warned residents not to approach the bear and call environmental police if it is spotted.That wasn’t the only bear making a surprise appearance this weekend. A black bear also crashed a wedding reception in Carver.Dr. Benjamin Kilham, of the Kilham Bear Center, said the bears are only interested in people’s food and are normally on the move this time of year.People should stay calm when they come across a black bear and allow them to leave the area, he said.Police ask for help in search for missing 10-year-old Dorchester boy

Canadians have just a few more days to scoop up any remaining bargains at Nordstrom stores.The high-end U.S.-based retailer says on its website that June 13 will be the “last day to shop!” adding that stores may close sooner based on available inventory. Nordstrom says discounts of between 70 to 80 per cent are available during its final days of liquidation. The Seattle-based retailer announced back on March 2 that it would be shuttering all six Nordstrom and seven Nordstrom Rack stores in Canada. The decision will affect 2,500 jobs across the country. The company’s e-commerce business, nordstrom.ca, has already ceased operations. In announcing the withdrawal from the Canadian market Nordstrom chief executive Erik Nordstrom said they did not see a “realistic path to profitability” for the Canadian operation.
